The Skilled Labor Shortage #2
Covering the Basics
When it comes to preparing to sell, you need to make sure you cover the basics. This home in District Heights, MD just needed a few routine updates before it could make a splash on the market.
With such a high demand for move-in ready homes, every listing needs something. Keller Williams Preferred Properties agent Sherina Garner worked with the Curbio Washington, D.C. team to get her listing properly prepared for the market.
Work involved a checklist of basic preparation items like a kitchen refresh, interior painting, flooring updates, and a deep clean. Once everything was checked off, the listing was officially ready for market.
The kitchen is the heart of the home and needs to be in tip-top shape when the listing goes on the market. Work included:
- Priming and painting the cabinet doors and face frames
- Installing new pulls and surface mount hinges
- Replacing existing flooring with luxury vinyl plank flooring
- Installing painted and stained shoe molding
- Painting the walls and ceilings

A lot of the home was plagued by stained walls and dirty carpets.
Some fresh coats of paint and replaced carpeting did the trick. Finally, we did a thorough and deep clean.

The outside of the home just needed a few finishing touches to get it in order. In the front, work included removing and reinstalling the porch railing for better safety. In the back, we pressure washed and stained the deck.
