The Skilled Labor Shortage #2
Major Updates Inside and Out
When it comes to prepping a listing for the market, some homes need a little more help than others. This Midlothian house underwent some major updates inside and out before it was ready for the market.
Mark Cipolletti is an agent with Keller Williams and knew he needed to help the family sell for top dollar. To boost the resale value of the home, he teamed up with the Curbio Richmond contractors. After some major updates inside and out, the home sold for $170,000 more than what it would have sold for as-is, and the homeowners made an added profit.
As Mark explains, “The short story is that the Hughes made more than if they would have sold to the house flipper that offered to buy their house as-is.”
Originally, the home lacked a bit of curb appeal, but some updates to the front deck area helped change that. Some of the work that was completed included:
- Replacing damaged deck boards
- Pressure washing and painting the deck boards and railing
- Replacing the stair posts and risers
- Prepping and painting both sides of the exterior door

- Prepping and painting the shutters
- Replacing the siding
- Removing existing roofing material and installing new shingles
- Repairing the substructure
